A BRIEF HISTORY

We were founded in the 1940’s as ‘Calverley-Woodhall Players’ under the formidable Mrs Barker. Our first play was J.B. Priestley’s ‘When We Are Married’ with front seats (upholstered) priced at two shillings whilst the rear seats were 6d cheaper. The performance was a sell-out with almost £30 raised for the village’s ‘War Welfare’ and ‘District Nurses’ Associations.

CALVERLEY PLAYERS TODAY

Today we have over 50 members and hold our Annual General Meeting in the Thornhill Arms in Calverley. We put on two to three full performances every year, although we do perform at events throughout the year so keep an eye on our social media to see what’s coming up next! Want to get involved?
